Aboriginal Front-line Workers Advocacy Networking Group

Vision Statement
The intention of this group is to open communication lines with other Aboriginal frontline workers for the purpose of sharing resources and supporting one another.

Group Objectives
1. To provide support to and network with other aboriginal frontline workers.

2. To increase our awareness about community resources in order to provide the best possible service to our clients.

3. Through networking, we intend to reduce the gaps in program services for our clients.

4. To work together in order to share professional development opportunities.

In the past two years, the group has been meeting on a monthly basis with a break during the summer months. It has been very challenging at times for the group to meet on a regular monthly basis. As a group we had decided to have workshops and training sessions for frontline workers, to regain the interest of the group. Currently, there are approximately 12 members from various Aboriginal Organizations from Hamilton, surrounding area and London, ON. 1-Aboriginal Frontline Worker from a mainstream organization. The workshops consisted of "HIV/AIDS and Traditional Sexuality", "Empowerment Workshops for Frontline Workers: (November 2001). "Practicing Self Care Day for Front-line workers" with the wholistic approach (January 2002) with the planning and coordination from group members that have been very active and supportive for the workshops and the self-care day.

At this time, I would like to acknowledge the group for being very patient and understanding during the various panning stages for these days. Thanks for your participation and interest in the "Aboriginal Front-Line Workers Advocacy Networking Group." I really appreciate your input and suggestions.
